Did you know that there are some people who have never heard of grilled corn on the cob? When most people have corn for picnics or camping, they have the traditional corn boil. The only problem with this is that you have a lot more stuff to lug with you, both to the picnic or camp site and then back home again. It is actually pretty much just as easy to have grilled corn, and, it doesn’t require a lot of extra stuff, not even a pot to cook with. The best part is, there is so much flavor and so many variations you can use, that cooking corn this way is a lot tastier than boiling it, and you will want to do it all year long, even when it is not barbecue season. Luckily, you can grill your corn in the oven as easily as you can on the barbecue, so you can have it any time of the year you have an urge for it.

Grilling Corn Is Easy
The most important things you will need when you are grilling corn are tin foil and butter or margarine, and of course, salt and maybe pepper if you like it on your corn. If you don’t have tin foil, you can still grill corn easily. Just don’t completely remove the husks. To prepare the corn for grilling, if you are using tin foil, pull off the husks, and clean off all of the little pieces of silk that can get stuck in your teeth if they are left on the corn. Next, cover the entire ear of corn with butter or margarine, then sprinkle salt on it, and pepper if desired. Wrap the cobs in the tin foil, making sure to twist the ends so nothing leaks out during the cooking process.
Now you can put the corn on the grill, and start cooking. If you do not have tin foil, pull the husks back to the bottom of the cob without removing them. Remove the silk, butter and season the corn on the cob, then pull the husks back up, securing them with string. To keep them from burning, you may want to wet the husks before tying them.
Variations for Grilled Corn
You can add a lot of delicious things to your corn while you are grilling it to make it taste even better (yes, it is possible to make corn taste better than it already does). You may want to sprinkle some cheddar, mozzarella or parmesan cheese on the corn before wrapping it in foil or husks. Add a little bit of paprika for a bit of a kick, and experiment with other seasonings that taste good with corn.
The next time you are having a picnic or going camping, and someone suggests a corn boil, you can suggest having grilled corn instead. It is delicious, and unlike boiling, which removes a lot of nutrients and flavor, the nutrients remain, and all of that delicious corn on the cob flavor stays in the cob until you are ready to eat.
