If you have a hard time eating corn on the cob because it is too hot to hold on to, you may want to try using corn skewers. These handy little tools make it so that you don’t have to touch any part of the corn with your fingers, so you are not going to get burned. You will also find that using skewers makes it a lot easier to be neater while you are eating corn on the cob, something that is not always the easiest thing in the world to do. You will still have butter dripping from the corn, but at least it won’t be all over your hands, because you are holding the skewers and not the corn.
Corn Holders Are Inexpensive
There are a lot of eating utensils you can get that cost a lot of money. This is not the case with skewers. You can even get them at your local dollar store in the kitchen section. This means that there really should be no reason at all for you not to have all kinds. Then, if you have friends and family members over for a corn boil, you will have all kinds of corn holders for everyone to use. You can usually get them in sets of four, so even if you just purchase five or six sets, you should have plenty for family get-togethers and barbecue parties or corn boils on the beach with friends.
Skewers Make It Easier for Kids to Eat Corn
Kids love corn on the cob, but they are not always able to be the least bit clean about eating it. They pick it up with their fingers, and end up with butter and salt all over their hands. Then of course they start wiping their hands on their clothing, your clothing, furniture, the dog, etc., getting everything covered with greasy butter. You can eliminate this problem by making sure that whenever your kids eat corn on the cob that they use corn skewers. This way, they will be holding the skewers and not the corn, so their hands should stay relatively clean. It is a good idea to make sure that they are using a plate and napkins as well, because even with skewers, they can still make a pretty good mess.
Because they are so inexpensive and so readily available, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be corn cob holders in every home in the United States. We all love barbecues and camping, and corn on the cob is a staple food for both of these activities. Eliminate a lot of the mess, and enjoy your corn even more, by using corn skewers to hold on to it with.
